Arrangements for School Admissions at 4+
The deadlines for the 2025-26 academic year admissions round are:
- Admissions applications open: October 2024
- Closing date for applications: 15 January 2025
- Allocation letters and emails sent out: 16 April 2025
- Induction days: Summer term 2025
Five Ashes is a voluntary controlled school and the County Council makes arrangements for admissions at age 4+. You will find a detailed description of how to apply for a school place on the East Sussex website.
Please use the online Synergy Parent Portal to apply for a school place. If you require assistance, please contact admissions@eastsussex.gov.uk or 0300 330 9472. The closing date for primary school applications is 15th January 2025.
The admission limit for Five Ashes is currently set at 10 as the number of children entering the Reception Year Group. If the School is over-subscribed, the authority uses a range of criteria to decide entry, including siblings already in the school and distance from home to school.
All children start full time in September, although there is usually a staggered start in the first few weeks to aid the children’s transition into school. Parents who are considering applying for places at Five Ashes Primary School are invited to attend one of two New Parent Open sessions held in the Autumn Term.
Parents may find it helpful to know that, if there are insufficient places available to meet the demand, these will be allocated to children in accordance with the following list of priorities:
- Looked after children and children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or subject to residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following being looked after.
- Children who will have a brother or sister* at the school at the time of admission and who live at the same address, within the pre-defined community area.
- Other children living within a pre-defined community area.
- Children who will have a brother or sister* at the school at the time of admission who live at the same address, outside the pre-defined community area.
- Other children.
*Children are ‘siblings’ if they are full, half, adoptive or foster brother or sister living in the same household including siblings attending sixth forms.
Casual Admissions to Any Class During the Year
